Village life in France - it's back!

What is it about human nature that everything is so much more intense and pleasurable after you have gone without? You can't appreciate your Friday night without your working week......the first warmth of the sun on your face in the spring is so much more delicious after a long hard winter....and now...life slowly resuming after a long hard covid year.

A small village in the Minervois near Carcassonne had its first ever market on Thursday. The courtyard of the chateau in Malves-en-Minervois seemed made for it, as if it had been waiting all these years for this exact thing. It will be even better when the terrace cafe bar/restaurant (Al Castel) is allowed to open too but it was still wonderful. If it hadn't been such a beautiful spring day with the warmth on your face, you'd have been forgiven for thinking it was Christmas - the excitement levels and community rapture resembled that usually reserved for the festive period!

It was a pleasure to see the delight for locals as they saw familiar faces again after so long … the joy of buying a few things and to feel the buzz of life returning to village life.
Not such a big thing yet absolutely enormous!
Life is slowly returning back to 'normal'. For anyone heading to the Minervois this summer, check out the market in Malves-en-Minervois - Thursday mornings until 13h30.
