Blinking beautiful brownies - the best of USA treats 🙌

There seems to be a few theories as to the origin of the gorgeous brownie but popular opinion seems to lend itself to BOSTON being the true home of the humble brownie. And if there weren't enough reasons to visit this great city, well that's just sealed it! 😉

Without wishing to cause a little controversy, what does a 'proper' brownie look like??? Maybe fudgey ... chewy ... fluffy??? Is it a cookie or a cake??? 🤔 To be honest, it's just blinking delicious, that's what it is! How do you prefer yours ? 😁

So, there must be a billion + recipes for this little treat but we've gone for this little effort - a taste of the good stuff but maybe not as naughty as some others out there. You could always add some cherries in there for another take on it, and count them as one of your 5 a day to justify a second piece 🤭🤣

Have fun and tuck in ☺️

TTC's Not Too Naughty Brownies recipe

Prep and cook time, we estimate:

30 - 35 minutes

Ingredients

😋 100g dark chocolate 70%

😋 100g butter

😋 70g plain flour

😋 1 good tsp baking powder

😋 2 happy eggs

😋 100g sugar

😋 1 sachet of vanilla sugar

😋 50g chopped walnuts

Method

1. Heat the oven to 180’C/gas 4. Line a baking tray with baking paper (around 20cm tray is good - square if you’ve got one but round will do the job just the same 👌) .

2. On the stove, put on a pan of water and heat to a gentle simmer. Put a glass bowl on top of the pan - make sure it isn’t touching the water! Break up the chocolate into cubes and add to the glass bowl with the butter. Stir until it’s all melted together. Take off the heat.

3. In another bowl mix together the flour and baking powder.

4. In a third bowl whisk together the eggs and sugars - just a little - don’t get too crazy! 🤭

5. Pour the egg mixture into the melted chocolate and butter. Add the nuts and stir and fold until it’s all incorporated.

6. Add the flour mixture and mix again until it’s all incorporated and looking rich, shiny and scrumptious.

7. Pour the mixture into your prepped baking tray and pop it into the oven. If you’re anything like me, set an alarm! Check after 20 minutes. You can always pop it back in for a few minutes if necessary.

Happy happy days 😁

Serving Suggestions

Munch away with a dollop of creme fraiche or vanilla ice-cream 🍨

Helpful swaps

Switch the walnuts for any type of nuts you fancy.

Dark chocolate 70-80% if you can but don't worry too much.
